Case Study

Life-saving connections | Modernised Network at Klinikum Memmingen

Klinikum Memmingen, together with CMS and Aruba, has implemented a comprehensive, high‑performance WLAN that clearly separates medical, administrative and public areas. Despite challenging building conditions – limited expansion possibilities in the old structure, hard‑to‑reach cable routes and protected fire compartments – the network segmentation, redundancy and security were redesigned and deployed without disrupting ongoing operations.

Smooth Integration in Live Operation
Every measure was closely coordinated with the hospital, supported by simulations and measurements, which kept downtime during migration to a minimum.

Why the Project Is Life‑Critical
In a hospital, a network outage can endanger lives. The new network connects diagnostic devices, monitoring systems and laboratory data in real time, ensuring safe and efficient patient care.

"We worked with CMS for the first time and experienced how professional the team tackles complex requirements. At the same time the collaboration was pleasant and collegial: decisions were made together, questions were answered quickly, and we always felt we were working on an equal footing."
Sebastian Steiger - Technical Director of IT Services at Klinikum Memmingen
